Located on one of the best streets in the Encanto-Palmcroft Historic District, this beautiful brick ranch features a spacious light-filled Living Room with: beautiful crown molding, white oak floors and a two-sided fireplace that opens to a mahogany paneled family room with built in bookcases and views of the pool and patios. Large dining room with painted wainscoting and a sun-filled alcove for office/library that could someday open to the kitchen tucked just beyond. Three large bedroom and 2 original baths all combine to give this home a distinctive and original charm. This is an ideal home for entertaining or just relaxing with the family. 1819 can be many things to many people, though one thing is sure. The address and location here is INCREDIBLE! THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A GREAT ADDRESS!
In all of Phoenix, there is still only one Encanto-Palmcroft. And in Encanto-Palmcroft, there is one address that makes an impact worthy of this special historic district. That address is "anything Palmcroft Drive."
Brian and Christina are young adventurers. And while they thought that their next big adventure might involve remodeling a beautiful - albeit original - sprawling brick ranch in the desirable Encanto-Palmcroft Historic District in downtown Phoenix Arizona, their yearning for swimming along beaches and camping on mountain tops won out, and today their home looks essentially the same as it did when Brian purchased it in the summer of 2009.
That's not to say that these travelers ignored their home. Quite the contrary. "When we got back from snorkeling in Costa Rica, we put a new roof on the house," says Brian "and when we got back from our wedding in Greece, the pool got resurfaced."
And in the time they've owned the home the couple have also added a new pool pump and hot water heater, brickwork under the arbor and around the pool decking, overhauled the entire sprinkler system, installed raised beds in a new garden area, and planted Blackberry Bushes, Ash, Fig and Orange trees, all between weekend camping trips to almost every peak in Arizona. "We've just never taken the design of the house on, so it'd be wonderful to hand it off to someone who might want to do that," Christina added.
A dozen different interior designers would no doubt envision a dozen different beautifully finished spaces while they toured this prestigious address. But, the original interior already has plenty to offer (see main description).
The kitchen is long and filled with plenty of eastern-exposure sunlight. And while the lighting, flooring and counter-tops may have changed over the years, the white metal cabinetry that was presumably installed when the house was first built in 1951 still remains.
From the kitchen, family and friends can enjoy breakfast or coffee in the attached breakfast room, or exit through the kitchen door to a large courtyard/patio for grilling and dining al fresco. The entrance to the unattached garage is positioned across this courtyard, and while this area is at the front of the home, privacy comes from 3 large Ash trees and a 3 foot tall iron fence.
That completes the public spaces, though the amenities that 1819 offers to its new owners don't end there...
This stately home was designed for family, and the 3 bedrooms are large and ready to be filled with photos, stuffed animals and bunk beds. The west side of the home has two of the bedrooms separated by a bathroom with separate tub and shower, while the east side has a bedroom and bathroom with a shower. Both baths feature original square tile, one in peach and teal and the other in pink and gray.
A spacious 2 car garage & 2 car carport house the cars, bicycles and whatever else your family can manage while the laundry and neighboring storage room along the back of the garage can hold camping gear, holiday decor and a myriad of other "why do we own this?" items.
This is an ideal home for entertaining or just relaxing with the dogs after a day's work. 1819 can be many things to many people, though one thing is sure. Settling in to this fantastic neighborhood and enjoying all that it offers: location, restaurants, long walks, etc.. could be the beginning of your next adventure.
