Enjoy views galore in this 3,733 s.f. four-bedroom, golf course fronting, south-facing home, on a tucked away, quiet cul-de-sac site in Desert Mountain, a luxury, gated, golf, tennis, fitness and hiking/biking community in mountains on the northern edge of Scottsdale, AZ. By day, the views include relaxing green golf course grass and mountain ranges up to eighty miles away. Twilight turns mountains purple here, a prelude to the main show – a sensational Arizona sunset. Twinkling far-off city lights dazzle after dark (the most valuable view here). At an elevation of approximately 3,250', the home's dry, relatively cool climate is perfect year 'round, especially on summer evenings, when the temperature drops fifteen to twenty degrees below what the valley floor experiences. The mountain views include the iconic Pinnacle Peak in the McDowell Mountains to the south; the mountains on the other side of downtown Phoenix; the Estrellas, further away and to the southwest; and various other miscellaneous peaks. The golf course views include looking straight down the par-3 11th hole (from behind the green, and not in a place where golf balls are going to land) on the famous Cochise course (where several major Senior Tour tournaments have been played, including two recent Schwab Cup finals), and a nice view of the 12th fairway to the east.
All this scenic beauty and comfort can be yours, along with the world-class services of The Desert Mountain Club is in an easy-to-maintain home known in Desert Mountain as "Cochise Ridge 31" after the completely finished (no future construction noise or congestion) intimate Desert Mountain "Village" in which it is located. The home is a Kitchen/Family Room plan with a gated front courtyard known as a "Sierra Padre" plan. It is in great shape, thanks to attentive, full-time owners, and a fresh interior paint job. It has a three-car garage (relatively rare in Cochise Ridge) with an attractive epoxy floor finish, and extensive, tall storage cabinets on both sides of the garage. On the other side of a cozy hearth room with fireplace from the kitchen is a generously sized bonus room (with those great views!) perfect for a billiards table or other special use. The home has a few steps in it, but is on one level, with no upstairs or downstairs to it. It also has a lap pool, with a separate above-ground spa located right outside the master bedroom, both with Pebble-Tec finishes.
All bedrooms are ensuite (and each has its own patio) and large enough for King-Size beds. There are fireplaces in the master bedroom, the kitchen, and the living room. All main spaces and each bedroom have in-ceiling Bose stereo speakers. A wet bar with a small refrigerator/icemaker is in a corner of the living room. The living room ceiling is finished with an upgrade tongue-in-groove ceiling system. A built-in Kitchen-Aid stainless-steel barbeque, under cover on the back patio and accompanied by a covered outdoor dining area, makes outdoor entertaining easy. The back patio is especially spacious, allowing for a considerable amount of patio furniture to be deployed and allowing the home to "live larger" than might be expected. There are plenty of large wall surfaces for the display of hanging art. The home's driveway is not shared with any neighbor.
The kitchen appliance package includes a stainless steel JennAir side-by-side refrigerator/freezer with in-door water and ice supply; a built-in JennAir microwave/convection oven; two double, wall-mounted JennAir ovens; a JennAir trash compactor; a Bosch dishwasher; and a center island. A breakfast bar and in-kitchen dining next to an elevated fireplace completes the picture.
The master bedroom enjoys excellent views of the Cochise/Geronimo driving range to the northwest, has plenty of room for a seating arrangement, and carpet on the floor. The master bathroom has a single closet (with built-ins), a hard-surface floor, double vanities, a free-standing tub, and a walk-in, "snail" shower. The home's overall feel is very much "light and bright", what most buyers today seem to be after.
Desert Mountain is a thirty-four year-old, world renowned, 8,200 acre, recreation oriented development featuring a twenty-mile long private hiking, biking, and equestrian trail system in the Continental Mountains, in the property but on its northern edge, ranging up to over 5,000' in elevation, available to all residents. The split is about equal between part-time and full-time residents. The Desert Mountain Club offers to its members the use of seven major clubhouses, nine different dining venues, six eighteen-hole championship golf courses; one eighteen-hole par-3 course, a high-tech golf performance center, and four practice ranges. One of the clubhouses is the "Sonoran Clubhouse" , the Club's fabulous swim (three pools), tennis (nine courts, including one grass, five Har-Tru, and two cushioned hard courts), fitness, spa, pickleball (six courts), bocce (two courts), and croquet facility (two courts). It also has a popular indoor/outdoor restaurant. The entire facility is virtually brand-new, having been completely renovated during 2016 and 2017 at a cost well in excess of $12,000,000. It is now perhaps the premier facility of its type in the entire Southwest. The other clubhouses are special in their own rights and combine to provide a terrific range of experiences for the members.
In addition to Desert Mountain being a place of surpassing scenic beauty, it is successful, too, with about 1,900 finished homes ranging in size from 1,800 to over 20,000 square feet and in recent sales prices from about $700,000 to over $15,500,000. Over sixty homes are under construction. Owners have invested over $30,000,000 in individual homes. It has attracted full-and part-time residents from all over North America and western Europe, most of whom seem to have made "having fun" a key priority in their lives. One thing that makes a lot of them happy is real estate taxes that are strikingly lower than what they are used to, particularly if "home" is or was in the Northeast, Midwest, or California. (2019 taxes on this home were only $5,555.80). The weather is famously sunny. Our risk of natural disasters is extremely low.
Day-to-day shopping needs for Desert Mountain owners are well-handled within about a ten-minute drive of the Front Gate by the merchants in the nearby towns of Carefree and Cave Creek. There are roughly 70 restaurants and bars within about sixteen minutes' drive. Our area is famous for world-class shopping, major league and collegiate sports, terrific air service, and a wide variety of cultural attractions. Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is routinely forty minutes away or less from the Front Gate. Private jets come and go from Scottsdale Airport, about a twenty-five-minute drive from the Front Gate. Desert Mountain is within two and a half hours by car of normally excellent snow skiing in Flagstaff and offers easy access to the entire American West, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and a plethora of unbelievably beautiful places in Southern Utah. "Paradise" doesn't overstate it.
Thanks for your interest in this home. We look forward to showing it to you someday, helping you learn about the community, the Club, and the area, and helping you visualize what life here would be like for you! In the meantime, enjoy the photographs and "virtual tour" of the home, the photographs of some of the Desert Mountain Club's facilities, and the separate Document with links to a variety of useful websites.
