Santa Fe styled masterpiece designed by Lee Hutchison and offered on an incredibly private lot, overlooking twenty-five acres of the Cochise course in Desert Mountain with distant mountain and sunset views. Award winning quality designed into the home by current owners on all fronts, and executed with terrific craftsmanship. Check out the beams in the ceilings, carved in place. Kitchen/Family Room plan with a three-room connected casita, and three other en suite bedrooms. Central Desert Mountain location, close to the Sonoran Clubhouse and community entrances. Exudes Santa Fe charm! Few architect's names are as synonymous with ultra-high quality home design in Desert Mountain as Lee Hutchison and his Urban Design Group. He has created dozens of "trophy" homes there over the last ten to twenty years that became spectacular realities for discerning clients completed on truly outstanding custom homesites in what has become a true, "world class" recreational and golf community over the last twenty-six years.
Desert Mountain is set at about 3,000' with six Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses, a 22 mile private hiking system, seven private restaurants in six different clubhouses (one a fitness, tennis and spa facility currently undergoing a $12,000,000 "make over").Desert Mountain Contains more than 8,200 acres, located about fifty minutes from Phoenix' Sky Harbor Airport. It is, in a word, an amazing place!
The work Lee Hutchison did in the "Heart of Desert Mountain", the Village of Turquoise Ridge, on lot 12, is excellent, even by Lee's own high standards, and so was the site: a 37,811 square foot "flag lot", immediately overlooking about twenty-five acres of beautiful High Sonoran Desert and several holes on Desert Mountain's famed Cochise golf course, site of the Champion Tour's season ending playoff event, the Schwab Cup. The lot that lies between 12 and the street, # 13, is owned by the same family and will be offered to the buyer of the house on #12 at a negotiated price.
The view from the back of the home, from southwest to northeast, is very "pure", with only one "rooftop" meaningfully visible out of a view arc of about 160 degrees. It can be seen, but is unobtrusive due to being 340 yards away, lower than # 12, and somewhat obscured by trees. Not only is the "setting" of this 7,139 square foot home serene, protected, and superb, but so are the longer range views, which include the Club's 52,000 square foot Cochise Geronimo Clubhouse about 820 yards away, the entire Continental Mountain range three to four miles beyond the Clubhouse (close enough to nicely fill your field of view), more mountains to the west up to thirty miles away, and sunsets 365 days a year.
The house itself is an award winning representation of authentic Southwestern/Santa Fe architecture, featuring a gated front courtyard with water feature and accented with a significant collection of tall, specimen cacti; hand-carved ceiling beams and corbels; a connected three-room casita, which can be closed off giving the feeling of a more intimate living space (two ensuite bedrooms a living room/kitchenette and laundry facilities that can be locked off and forgotten about until guests come calling) a gracious master suite and bath that includes a very comfortable television watching or reading area with fireplace, a good-sized personal exercise studio, and two closets. Two more ensuite bedrooms are upstairs, one of which makes a particularly nice office, with great views of the mountains and golf course. The house is a traditional "Kitchen/Family Room" plan, with a "warm" kitchen and family room area, replete with well proportioned "vega" ceiling beams, a fabulous fireplace, and a very well-equipped kitchen. A walk-in pantry and a work station that can be closed off from view are nearby. The three-car garage has three separate overhead doors, a work bench, a utility sink and hose bib, and an air conditioned storage room.
The back patio is large, with a 38' long pool and connected spa, with a cascading water feature up against an enclosing privacy wall. A generous amount of shade is created by an extended tile roof structure, protecting a sitting area and a substantial built-in BBQ and serving area. It was designed with entertaining in mind, and that is what the owners have enjoyed all these years.
Turquoise Ridge # 12 is a very special opportunity for some fortunate family. If you'd like more information, please call Linda Salkow at 480 620 3511.
